Part of the Caress series - this time with a very talented dancer Jess in only her second ever shoot and first nude one. Jess's DA profile is here:
[link]Another example of how some of the best shots from a shoot start out by accident. I was shooting the Red Shoes Ballet with Jess and one of the poses I was going to use was the Spider with single source lighting from the side and Jess facing the camera so she was semi-silhouetted.
Example of the Spider pose:
[link]While she was practicing it she turned away from the camera and faced the lights (because it is a somewhat revealing pose which is why I was lighting it from the side to create shadows).
Anyway because her skin is so pale it reflected the light so intensely that it looked like it was radiating out of her. It was such a beautiful sight I took a shot and as it appeared on the computer (I always shoot with the camera tethered to the computer so the model and I can discuss each shot) Jess said "OMG that's me, that's my sexuality - that's the picture that says me as a woman".
Jess is proudly gay and only 19 so the shot had particular significance for her. Anyway there were some technical problems with the shot as it wasn't a set up shot so we did a few more versions of which this is my favourite.
This is an unbelievably difficult pose to hold as she is right up on her toes en pointe - incredibly skilled dancer to make it look so effortless.
